Doomsday Tracker

Privacy Policy

Effective October 23, 2026. This policy is the agreement between you and the operator of Doomsday Tracker (doomsdaytracker.app) about personal information. The operator can be reached at [email protected].

Who we are

Doomsday Tracker is an informational website and progressive web app that shows public reports of internet outages, power-grid cuts, and airborne private and business aircraft. The operator of the Service is the person behind [email protected]. That address is the only admin account. “We” and “operator” mean that operator.

Information we collect

We collect only what the Service needs to run:

Account data, if you create an account: name, email address, a password hash (we never store your password in readable form), and the alert threshold you choose. Session records may include a session token, expiry, and the IP address and browser string your sign-in request already sends.

Contact messages: the name, email, and message you submit on the contact form, the time we received it, and the IP address of the request if the host provides one. Messages are stored so the operator can read them.

On your device only: a local history of tracker counts, your alert threshold, and a session token used so sign-in still works inside the preview. That data stays in your browser unless you create an account or submit the contact form.

We do not ask for payment details, government IDs, precise GPS from your device, contacts, or photos. We do not run advertising trackers or sell audience profiles.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or other apps. We do not send your account email to the outside outage, grid, or flight feeds the globe reads. Those feeds are public sources. We request them without attaching your identity.

The operator, and only the operator, can open the admin view to see how many people have signed up, export a list of account emails, and read contact messages. That access exists so the operator can run the Service, answer you, and defend it. It is not a public directory.

Why we use it

We use account data to sign you in, remember your alert threshold, and show the admin how many people have signed up. We use contact messages to read suggestions and to keep a record if a dispute arises. We use session and IP data to keep accounts secure, block abuse of the contact form, and investigate misuse. We use on-device storage so the globe and history work without sending that cache to us. We use Google Analytics to count visits. That is described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to see how the Service is used. When it is on, your browser loads Google’s script and Google sets its own cookies (including cookies named _ga). Google receives the page address, a client identifier, browser and device details, and an approximate location inferred from the IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not store the full IP address. We do not send your account email, password, alert settings, or contact messages to Google, and we do not sell this information or use it to show you ads.

Google processes that data under its own terms. You can block it with your browser, with a content blocker, or with Google’s opt-out at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

reCAPTCHA

Account creation and the contact form can use Google reCAPTCHA v3. When it is on, your browser loads Google’s script, which checks whether the submit looks automated. Google receives technical details about that visit under its own terms. We do not receive a recording of what you type from reCAPTCHA. If the keys are not set, the check stays off.

How long we keep it

Account rows stay until you ask us to delete them or we close the account. Contact messages are kept as long as we need them to operate the Service, respond, or protect our legal rights. Session rows expire on their own. Local data on your device stays until you clear it. We may keep a minimal record of a deletion request itself so we can show that we honored it.

Security

We use industry-standard hosting, hashed passwords, and signed session cookies. No website can promise that storage or transmission is perfectly secure. You use the Service knowing that risk. Do not send passwords, financial data, or other people’s private information through the contact form.

Children

The Service is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

Where data is processed

The Service is hosted on infrastructure that may sit outside your country. By using it, you understand that your information may be processed in the country where the host or the operator is located.

Your requests

Email [email protected] to ask for a copy of the account data we hold, to correct it, or to delete your account and contact messages that are tied to your email. We may ask you to prove you control that email. We will refuse a request that would expose someone else’s data, that we cannot verify, or that the law requires us to keep. Deletion does not cover data already written into backups until those backups age out, or records we must keep to comply with law or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Changes

We may update this policy by posting a new version on this page. The effective date at the top will change. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the update. If you do not accept it, stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.
